there's one fact that you guys should know about me. i love to drink milk SO MUCH (?).
when i was a kid, dad used to buy like a dozen of milk every 2 or 3 weeks. (and it is still on-going till now=.="). we love breakfast with cereal and milk. koko crunch, honeystar, milo, you name it. and sometimes we use milk in cooking. or just drink it barely.
and this kind of diet is still continuing until now (but not as often as it was). but my problem now is that i HAVE to stay up until late at night to prepare for exams. and when i drink a cup of milk before i get studying, i become sleepy. and i end up at bed, without finishing the studying=.="
i've tried experimenting myself by drinking milk before start studying for a few times, and i conclude that milk drives me to become sleepy.
so i search on the net, is my "smart guess" really smart or not, and yes, it's true that milk makes you become sleeeeepyyy!

as you can see, milk contains amino acids called tryptophan.
so what does tryptophan do?
our body metabolizes this tryptophan and eventually turns it into a neurotransmitter called serotonin. and serotonin is known to induce a calming effect after it is released in the brain, and is thought to help regulate sleep in human body.
great. now, does it make you sleepy?
technically, yes. even a slightest amount is enough to put a person into sleep. however it works best when our stomach is empty =D im not sure if it works or not when we are full =.="
anyhow, pls dont drink milk before you start studying, especially if you intend to stay up until late at night! or else you might end up like this:
